Jake Graf (he/him)

Having grown up in the '80s under Section 28, Jake struggled from a very young age with his trans identity, desperately seeking representation and visibility that didn’t exist. When he was finally able to transition in his late twenties, Jake resolved to be the ‘possibility model’ that he never had, writing and producing films that centred LGBTQ+ identities and sharing those stories as widely as possible. Blown away by the online reaction from trans men across the globe, Jake began to fully appreciate the power and importance of sharing stories and the hope that they could offer.

Jake's visibility has created many invaluable connections and opportunities and he now works with brands and organisations globally, sharing positive and uplifting trans stories, helping to foster inclusive workplace cultures and striving to humanise the trans experience. In 2015 he was a panellist as part of the first trans specific event at The White House, the following year was invited to speak in Speaker’s House in Westminster and in July 2017, his short film about legislative change was launched in The Houses of Parliament.

Jake's wife, Hannah Graf and he, were the subjects of the Channel 4 documentary ‘Our baby: A Modern Miracle’ in 2020 and their autobiography ‘Becoming Us’ was published in 2023. They advocate for equitable parenthood, the power of representation and free access to trans healthcare.

Jake always admired Stonewall’s work and finds himself very much aligned with their ethos of communication, collaboration and equality for all. He is thrilled to become a Stonewall trustee at a time when the community faces some of the greatest threats to its safety and wellbeing, and he believes it is vital to work together to safeguard rights and place in society.
