Stonewall is proud of its track record in changemaking. We are currently campaigning across a number of areas where LGBTQ+ people’s rights and freedoms are threatened. In all our work, we rely on our supporters – you – to get involved, amplify our message and come out for LGBTQ+ equality. We can’t do it without you.
All LGBTQ+ people deserve acceptance for who they are. For trans+ people in the UK, their right to live dignified lives is now under threat, and their ability to access the vital services they need is uncertain. We are working alongside other LGBTQ+, trans+-led and human rights organisations to set a clear vision and action plan for equality in the UK.
Keeping fit and well is fundamental to having a good life, but not everyone feels safe or included in sports and wellbeing settings. Our Rainbow Laces campaign promotes the physical and mental benefits of activity, exercise and sports and seeks to make sure everyone feels able to move, play and participate.
All LGBTQ+ people should know there is nothing wrong or broken about who they are. Their sexual orientations and gender identities are diverse and should be celebrated. Yet conversion practices – that seek to change, ‘cure’ or suppress them – are still legal in the UK. We are campaigning to ensure the draft bill to ban these abusive practices is made law.
The ban on LGBTQ+ people serving in the British Military caused lasting and profound harm to too many people. It is vital that everyone impacted gets justice. However, too many people had their careers, and their lives, ruined because of who they loved. We are campaigning to ensure they get the compensation they deserve.
Everyone has a right to start a family if they choose, but there are many barriers that prevent LGBTQ people from becoming parents. We are working to secure equal rights for all rainbow families including through better access to fertility care equal and fairer support for adoptive families.
Our anti-bullying programme – Diversity Role Models – helps all young people grow up with an understanding and acceptance of individual differences, tackling the problem of bullying in schools so that every young person learns to empathy, compassion and the ability to think with an open mind.
