What you can do

Different Families, Same Love

For primary schools

Families come in all different shapes and sizes, from the conventional nuclear family to single parents, adoptive parents and children being raised by grandparents. Around 20,000 young people in Britain are growing up with same-sex parents and many children have lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans parents or family.

Children with lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans family see their families as special and different in the same way as any other young person. Our Different Families, Same Love materials have been used by thousands of schools round the country to celebrate different families, and to talk with pupils about how every family is special and unique.

Case Study

These materials provide an excellent starting point from which to discuss different families. We have used them with staff and pupils to think about the different families that make up our school community. The posters are colourful and look great in our classrooms and on our display boards.
