Rainbow Laces: Building belonging through movement

We're celebrating Rainbow Laces at the Commonwealth Games!

About the event

Everyone should be welcome to move, play and participate. However, for LGBTQ+ people there are barriers which make it harder to get moving. Stonewall’s latest research found that three times as many LGBTQ+ people still face discrimination whilst exercising, Rainbow Laces exists to change that.

Join us for a reception at Pride House featuring an insightful panel discussion that includes voices from grassroots sport and beyond. Hear how individuals, clubs and organisations are breaking down barriers, building belonging, and helping more LGBTQ+ people move with pride.

We'll be joined by:

  • Matthew Hyndman, Founder of Wee Gay Hike Club, campaigner and Traitors star.
  • Ellie Bartlett, Chair of Caledonian Thebans, Edinburgh’s first inclusive rugby club
  • Freyja Hedinsson, Glasgow Frontrunners
  • Jon Tilli, Director at Deutsche Bank.
  • Benaifer Bhandari, Co-CEO, The Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland.
