EMF and Stonewall
Stonewall is proud to have the support of Indie rock band EMF, whose values of inclusion, visibility and solidarity align with Stonewall’s mission to create safe, inclusive places where everyone can work, play and succeed throughout their lives.
Music has always been a powerful way to bring communities together, and EMF captures that spirit perfectly.
Right now, both globally and locally, we face a cultural backlash and moral panic. It is a time of regressive laws, curtailing freedoms and the rise of populist movements. We are reminded yet again that hard won rights are not always secure. It’s a turbulent period, but even in these challenging times, there is reason for hope.
As EMF’s film below highlights, there is plenty of acceptance, progress and positivity in the world to counteract the darker forces that feel ever present. Unity and visibility can themselves be acts of resistance.
From their infectious blend of dance, rock and pop to reactionary energy of punk, EMF’s music demonstrates diversity. Uplifting anthems like “Lover” reflect their deep solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, celebrating positivity and self-expression. In tracks like “The Day Music Died,” which speaks to the right to protest, the band proves that music can be both a safe space and a call to action.
