About the Programme

What will I learn?

Stonewall’s flagship LGBTQ+ Allies programme has been supporting people to step up as active allies in the workplace for over a decade.

The programme will support you with both in depth knowledge on LGBTQ+ identities and experiences as well as a reflective space to better understand your workplace context and take action on inclusion.

By attending our Allies programme, you will:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and common experiences among the community
  • Explore good practice in creating an LGBTQ+-inclusive workplace developed by Stonewall, our clients and partners
  • Understand what allyship means and how you can create transformative change in your workplace

We’ll cover a range of topics, including:

  • How to use LGBTQ+ inclusive language
  • Understanding our identities at work
  • Common experiences among the LGBTQ+ community
  • What the workplace is like for LGBTQ+ people
  • What are the barriers to inclusion in your workplace?
  • The history and power of allyship
  • Defining active allyship
  • Stepping up as an LGBTQ+ ally
  • Challenging language and behaviour at work
  • Collectively creating solutions to your workplace barriers
Who is this programme for?

This programme is for anyone who wants to take practical action to create a more inclusive workplace.

It is mostly designed for non-LGBTQ+ people, but if you’re looking to be an ally to other members of the community, you’ll get plenty of practical information from this programme.

It’s best suited to those who are in a position to create change and to inspire others to do the same. We’d suggest that those working in HR, EDI, network groups, senior leaders and members of a champions or ambassadors programme for inclusion in the workplace would get a lot from this programme.

If you’re just starting out on LGBTQ+ inclusion work, this programme will give you a broad understanding of workplace inclusion and can help you create a roadmap for this work.

How is it delivered?
