Stonewall Cymru launches campaign to eradicate workplace homophobia ‘once and for all’

What’s the problem? 

YouGov polling shows that in just the last five years 2.4m people of working age have witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work. A further 800,000 people of working age have witnessed physical homophobic bullying at work.

In Wales, six per cent of people (more than 114,000 people of working age) have witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work. One in seven (14 per cent) have at some point in their working lives witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work and three per cent have at some point in their working lives witnessed physical homophobic bullying.

At Stonewall, we know that people perform better when they can be themselves. That’s why it’s vital that we tackle homophobia in Britain’s workplaces.

What we’re doing?

To tackle the problem once and for all, Stonewall is working with businesses and organisations right across the country and has launched a new campaign to highlight the issue.

Campaign posters will appear on buses in Cardiff and in workplaces throughout Wales. The campaign features lesbian, gay and bisexual workers from across various careers and professions – including construction workers, footballers, priests, police officers and firefighters. Campaign posters will be made available to Stonewall Diversity Champion members and is calling on organisations to tailor with their logos and reproduce in workplaces and offices.
