Primary School Champions programme

All you need to do to become a Stonewall School & College Champion is complete this form. Your year's membership costs £200 plus VAT, and includes access to our online training, your application to the Stonewall School & College Champion Awards, use of our members only resources, ongoing support from our experienced team, and much more. Stonewall have supported thousands of primary schools and we’re here to support you too.

Why does it matter?

  • 45% of lesbian, gay, bi, and trans young people have experienced homophobic, biphobic or transphobic bullying
  • More than eight in ten primary teachers have never had any specific training in how to tackle homophobic bullying.
  • One in three trans pupils are not able to be known by their preferred name at school
  • 64% of trans pupils are bullied at school for being trans

We’re proud to offer a range of training options for you. Our online courses build on the content of our popular day courses and offer a cost effective, flexible way for you to develop the skills and knowledge you need to support the children in your school. These courses are available at a discounted rate for members.

You’ll receive a free pack of our most popular posters and stickers when you become a School & College Champion or renew your membership. Throughout the year, you’ll get priority access to exclusive new education resources tailored for primary schools and early years settings. From best practice guidance and policy support to the lesson packs created by one of our qualified teachers, there’s plenty to choose from.

Bespoke support

Our expert education team will be on hand to provide bespoke support throughout the year. For more than 30 years Stonewall have been working to create a world where all children and young people have access to an LGBT inclusive education, so you can trust that we know what best practice looks like. We’ll be there when you need us to help you with questions and challenges, no matter how big or small.

Best practice

You’ll become part of a national family of schools & colleges leading the way in celebrating difference. When you become a member you can use the School & College Champions logo on your website and letterheads, access of extensive library of education resources, benefit from termly newsletters and our bespoke support service. You can share your successful LGBT inclusive work with other schools and colleges through our case studies and at our education events.

School Champions Awards

All School & College Champions based in England are able to apply for a Stonewall School & College Champion Award. Use the awards framework to benchmark your school’s work and continue to develop your best practice approach as you work towards Bronze, Silver or Gold. Make sure you celebrate your school’s achievements with your exclusive Bronze, Silver or Gold Award logo and certificate.
