In times of change, we're a constant

We know from experience that to make long-lasting, positive change we need to work together.

Over the past 50 years, we’ve made amazing progress.

Many of the strides we’ve taken wouldn’t be possible without the support of a variety of political parties.

We’ll be working hard to ensure progress isn’t taken for granted, paused or rewritten.

Whatever the outcome of this election, Stonewall will work with the new government to build on Britain’s LGBT equality.

We now have greater equality than ever before but that doesn’t mean it’s untouchable.

As set out in our manifesto, LGBT equality is a key concern in Brexit negotiations.

Once we leave the EU, protecting our rights will be wholly the responsibility of the UK government.

We’ll be working hard to ensure progress isn’t taken for granted, paused or rewritten.

We also, unfortunately, don’t live in a utopia of equality. Not every LGBT person is treated equally in Britain.

Recent events will no doubt be used by some to divide and to create an ‘other’.

Even within the LGBT community there can be tensions. We still have a lot to do.

Recent events will no doubt be used by some to divide and to create an ‘other’.

But LGBT people exist in every community and we must not forget that, or let others suggest that they don’t.

We stand by the side of LGBT person, wherever they live, work, socialise or pray.

Our equality – the equality of all LGBT people - is strengthened and becomes unquestionable when it is adopted by every community, every workplace, every school.

Governments may change but our commitment to achieving acceptance without exception for every single LGBT person will always be the same.
