Our flagship Open Allies Programme is back.
We are excited to announce the return of our Open Allies Programmes for this year! This full-day programme will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to be an active and vocal ally in the workplace for LGBTQ+ people.
This is a great opportunity to join other allies in improving your understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences and to gain the practical skills needed to support your organisation's LGBTQ+ inclusion work.
We have two open programmes available to support your LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion efforts:
Open LGBTQ+ Allies Programme
By the end of this programme, you will have:
- Greater knowledge of LGBTQ+ identities and a nuanced understanding of people's experiences within the LGBTQ+ community, as well as how power and privilege shapes those experiences
- Developed understanding of what it means to be an ally and the opportunities and challenges involved in advocating for an identity that is not your own
- Increased confidence in engaging and educating others on LGBTQ+ inclusion and a practical action plan relevant to your role
By the end of this programme, you will have:
- Greater knowledge of trans identities and a nuanced understanding of trans people's experiences, as well as how power and privilege shapes those experiences
- Developed understanding of what it means to be an ally and the opportunities involved in advocating for trans people in the workplace
- Increased confidence in engaging and educating others on trans inclusion and a practical action plan relevant to your role
Who is this programme for?
Our Open Allies Programme is designed for all staff who wish to improve their understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and what meaningful allyship in the workplace looks like. While the programme is primarily for non-LGBTQ+ delegates, those who identify as LGBTQ+ are still welcome to attend and learn more about how they can be effecive allies to others within the LGBTQ+ community.
Our Open Trans Allies Programme is a greater opportunity for non-trans people to build their understanding of trans inclusion in the workplace. It is suitable for all staff who are looking to build their knowledge of trans inclusion.
We actively seek a diverse range of participants for this programme to reflect the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. We encourage attendance from people of colour, people of faith, women, trans people, individuals of different abilities, those who identify as working class or from a lower socio-economic background, as well as people at the intersections of these identities.
We will be running a number of open programmes this year:
17th May 2022: Open Digital LGBTQ+ Allies Programme
