Global Community Engagement Award
As the situation for LGBT people globally is nuanced and ever-changing, the best global employers make engaging with local LGBT communities and non-profit organisations integral to their approach to LGBT equality. Partnerships with local LGBT communities enable organisations to contribute to wider social change and identify risks and opportunities within countries.
Accenture has developed partnerships with global LGBT organisations, as well as 36 in-country groups across 16 countries. These partnerships have allowed Accenture to understand the specific contexts within countries and develop meaningful relationships to support local communities. Accenture also uses its voice and influence to advocate for legal equality for LGBT people. In Australia, the firm signed the open letter from Australian businesses in support of marriage equality after consulting with the local LGBT group Pride in Diversity. The firm also promotes LGBT equality externally by sharing messages of support on a global and local level, participating in roundtable events and exchanging organisational best practice with other businesses.
“We are incredibly honoured to be recognised for building meaningful partnerships with local communities and non-profits to contribute to wider social change. This is part of our core values and who we are as an organisation.” Sander van't Noordende, Group Chief Executive - Products and Global Executive Pride Sponsor.
