Decolonising Queer Leadership Programme

Take part in our free to attend 3-part programme for LGBT People of Colour, who want to develop their skills in creating lasting change in their communities and build collective power through challenging society's constructed power norms.

The programme was built in collaboration with our fantastic partners Rainbow Noir, Consented and AZ Mag to centre the voices and experiences of LGBT People of Colour.

For the QTIBIPoC community, it’s often a struggle to exist, let alone hold power or lead. We know that society’s oppressive structures are built to exclude and marginalise our communities. This creates barriers to QTIBIPoC not only accessing power but then maintaining it and ensuring tangible change. This programme addresses these challenges by interrogating our embedded ideas of leadership to disrupt, deconstruct and rebuild your own theory outside of colonial, cisnormative and heteronormative structures. During the session, you’ll learn from Stonewall, our partner organisations Rainbow Noir and Consented and one another on how you can apply your ideas, create change, and generate access to power for others.

This session is open to anyone from the QTIBIPoC community who wants to critically challenge oppressive norms and build collective community change. We’ll explore key theories and create space for reflective conversations, supporting you in developing your leadership based on your experiences and values. Our content is relevant whether you’re in traditional leadership roles, an aspiring leader or want to work to create community change. If you’re not sure this session is for you please get in touch empowerment@stonewall.org.uk and we’d be happy to discuss more.

There is no requirement to hold a leadership role or to wish to take one up.
