This weekend there have been alarming reports about human rights abuses against the international lesbian, gay, bi and trans community.
We’re now reaching out to gain further understanding and to ask how we can support.
When international events like this happen, it’s crucial we get our response right.
To do this, we have to take our cue from international LGBT activists, and let LGBT equality movements in each country determine what action is needed to change hearts and minds where they live.
If we act or comment without consultation with local activists, we risk putting already vulnerable groups in further danger, or derailing precarious negotiations.
