A Stonewall spokesperson said: ‘Bi Pride will be an incredibly important part of the LGBT calendar. Bi identities are often made invisible or dismissed as something that don’t exist, by people both inside and outside of the LGBT community.
‘Coming out as bi can be extremely difficult. Stonewall research shows that nearly two in five bi people (38 per cent) aren’t out to anyone at work, compared to just seven per cent of gay men and four per cent of lesbians. More than one in four bi women (27 per cent) and almost one in five bi men (18 per cent) have experienced discrimination from others within the LGBT community because of who they are. Bi people also continue to be seriously underrepresented in mainstream media, which makes events like Bi Pride so important.’
