What you could do

Volunteers work with us in a variety of ways:

  • On our Info Service- volunteers answer incoming calls to our Info Line, and may be required to undertake other duties for the Info Service during quiet periods. All Info volunteers receive training and on-going support to enable them to carry out this role. You can find out more information by downloading the Info service application pack.

  • During the day – working in our office doing administrative work, dealing with post, filing, monitoring the press and other office tasks.

  • At evening volunteer sessions – these are held on various evenings during the week, depending on current campaigns, dealing with large mailouts, filing, and a variety of other tasks. It's also quite a social group and some volunteers have been coming for years.

We're just doing our bit and the evening is really social and enjoyable
    Evening volunteers

  • With special events - helping out at fundraising events, Prides and Mardi Gras nationwide on a casual basis.

  • As a case study - during the course of our work, Stonewall is increasingly asked by the media for case studies to give their stories more 'human interest' and greater appeal to readers. We also need to have people we can call on to strengthen our case about the need to tackle discrimination. If you are willing to share your experience please complete and send us a case study form.

Most of all volunteering should be a reciprocal and collaborative experience which is enjoyable and rewarding.

Our volunteers are integrated alongside paid staff across the full range of our activities. We provide induction, training, support, development and hot & cold drinks.

We are fully committed to improving our volunteer policy and procedures and encourage feedback.
