Employment Equality Project

The Employment Equality Project, supported by the Department for Communities and Local Government, was initiated at the end of 2005 and run by Stonewall Scotland and the Scottish Inter Faith Council (SIFC).

It delivered 19 very popular free training sessions throughout 2006 and the start of 2007, which looked at the key concepts of the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003 and the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003.

The training was designed to help employers understand employment regulations on sexual orientation and religion and belief, and dispel some of the myths about dealing with clashes between these two sets of regulations in the workplace.

Working with the SIFC sent out a strong message about how all discrimination in the workplace is wrong and how religious people and gay people can work together. Stonewall Scotland is currently looking into the possibility of providing similar training in the future.
