The aim of the new project is to share information, develop and implement good practice, and ultimately to tackle discrimination in public services across Scotland. The information gathered will be used to develop guidance and tools to help public services change their policy and practice. We also aim to reach organisations that haven't yet thought about how they will develop more inclusive services.
The project will help service providers to understand the importance of their role in people's lives and how they can make a huge difference to the lived experience of so many people. We hope this project will help change really basic but incredibly important things, like the fear many LGBT people feel when accessing services public services, such as the police or council facilities.
The Good Practice Project hopes to learn from, and link with, similar LGBT projects, with the aim of developing a concise Good Practice Guide, which will be shared with various service providers.
To deliver the project, we will work with organisations who seek Stonewall Scotland's advice. To achieve this, Stonewall Scotland will work hand in hand, with some key public service deliverers, to help them translate good policy and practice into changes in their services.
