Stonewall today launches the sixth and biggest edition of Starting Out, Britain’s lesbian, gay and bisexual recruitment guide – both online and in print.
The guide, now including some 450 potential employers is targeted at the 150,000 lesbian, gay and bisexual students in Britain as well as all discerning jobseekers and graduates.
David Shields, Director of Workplace Programmes at Stonewall said ‘Despite forecasts of doom and gloom in the job market, we’ve this year increased the number of employers featuring in Starting Out, all of whom are eager to the recruit the very best in lesbian, gay and bisexual talent. Stonewall proves that creating a fully supportive and inclusive work environment makes sound business sense because people perform better when they can be themselves.’
15,000 copies of Starting Out, kindly supported once again by Credit Suisse, are being distributed to students’ unions, university career services, employment agencies and university lesbian and gay societies and sixth forms across Britain. Many more will access the fully interactive resource online, after the success of making it digital for the first time last year.
A launch event, attended by students from across Britain is being kindly hosted by the Diversity Careers Show in London on Friday 22 October, with further events planned in Manchester and Edinburgh.
