Derek Munn, Stonewall’s Director of Public Affairs, said in response to the Final Report of the Speaker's Conference on Parliamentary Representation:
‘Stonewall is pleased that, having extended its original remit to include gay people, the Speaker’s Conference has made tentative steps toward addressing the chronic underrepresentation of out gay people, and particularly lesbians, in the House of Commons. We welcome the inclusion of sexual orientation on an equal basis in the recommendations regarding champions within parties and a code of conduct on campaigning. We’re disappointed that the recommendations on monitoring did not include sexual orientations, and that sexual orientation is not included in the proposed reports on underrepresented groups. We will press the parties themselves to fill this gap.’
