Support equality and win a luxury weekend for two in Paris!

Stonewall's sixth annual 10k Equality Walk takes place on bank holiday Sunday 3 May, starting at Brighton's Pavilion Gardens. Supported by Brian Paddick, Amy Lamé and Mr Gay UK, this year's walk is part of Stonewall's 20th anniversary celebration and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

Walkers are invited to join us from midday at the Royal Pavilion Gardens for the pre walk picnic! All participants are encouraged to bring with them a picnic, sit back and enjoy the entertainment. Then it's on your toes for the warm up with a difference before the 10k walk kicks off at 2pm. Registration for the walk is just £10 (or free for children under 12, accompanied by an adult). Stonewall is encouraging all participants to bring along their families this year to enjoy the day. Walkers receive a goody bag, special commemorative t-shirt, and a glass of bubbly or a soft drink for kids once they've crossed the finishing line at the end of walk party.

Once registered, we encourage all walkers to fundraise to support our campaign to end homophobic bullying in schools. This year we're delighted to announce a fantastic top fundraising prize - a luxury weekend for two in Paris including business-class travel on Eurostar, two nights' stay in a luxury hotel and £250 spending money!

All money raised will go towards Stonewall's Education for All campaign, which tackles homophobic bullying in Britain's schools. The campaign's big goal for 2009 is to make a DVD of FIT, our play for schools, to send to every school in Britain. The play toured schools in 2007 and 2008 and was seen by almost 20,000 school pupils. It prompted a powerful reaction from pupils about their attitudes towards lesbian and gay people and the effects of homophobic language. One pupil said: 'The play was fantastic and it also taught me a lesson. It was that if one of my friends were to be gay I should still stick up for them…and you shouldn't leave them out because you love them and they love you as a friend.'
Last year's walk raised over £35,000 for our campaign to stamp out hate-crime. We were able to produce our Homophobic Hate Crime report, which generated widespread media attention of the issue (including the front page of a national newspaper) and resulted in Jacqui Smith MP tasking the Ministerial Action Group on Violence to consider its findings and implement its recommendations.

Ben Summerskill, Stonewall Chief Executive, said: 'The Brighton Equality Walk has always been a key event in Stonewall's fundraising calendar. This year is even more special as we celebrate 20 years of Stonewall and engage our supporters with a very clear goal. Helping Stonewall to make a DVD of the play FIT will go a long way towards helping tackle homophobic bullying in schools.'
