The inaugural Stonewall Season Celebration Closing on Thursday 10 November 2016 was a great success.
We were delighted to welcome over 250 people, who came together to support LGBT equality. The event would not have been possible without our generous guests, artists and bidders.
Special thanks go to our kind sponsors VISA.
The Stonewall Season saw 10 days of amazing activity in celebration of LGBT people, life, culture and pride, culminating with the art auction at the Celebration Closing event.
Over 60 talented artists donated pieces for the auction. The unique showcase reflected the creativity and brilliance that exists within our wonderfully diverse and gifted community.
Stonewall was delighted to welcome famous contributors such as Marc Quinn, Olly Alexander, Maggi Hambling and Wolfgang Tilmans, as well as an array of talented up and coming artists.
Friends of Stonewall Gok Wan, Jodie Harsh and DJ Sonikku took turns on the decks, while experimental food wizards Bompass & Parr delighted guests with a whiskey tornado and an edible glitter fountain.
Stonewall’s CEO Ruth Hunt and Kevin Jenkins, Visa’s Managing Director, explained the importance of the Season and how it has helped Stonewall continue on our mission to create a world where all people can live freely as themselves, without fear of discrimination or exclusion.
Stonewall is committed to ensuring that everybody, regardless of who they are, is accepted without exception and the Season is just one of the ways we are working towards making this vision a reality.
We cannot do this alone. The generosity of our supporters and guests at events such as this is vital, allowing us to continue in our quest to empower individuals and change hearts and minds, so that no matter where we are, we know we are always safe and always welcome.
