Helplines

  • ChildLine

ChildLine is the free, 24-hour helpline for children and young people in the UK. You can call the helpline about any problem, at any time - day or night. ChildLine's counsellors will listen and help to find ways to sort things out. ChildLine receives a lot of calls about homophobic bullying, and a bullying diary, to keep track of when and how you are bullied is available to download.

  • Educational Action Challenging Homophobia (EACH)

EACH has a national freefone number for young people. Available 9am to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 12pm Saturdays, it can give a young person, or an adult on their behalf, the opportunity to be heard and offered further help and support.

  • LGBT Youth Scotland Youthline

The Youthline operates on Tuesday evenings between 7:30 and 9pm. Chat to a trained youth worker about any issues that are on your mind. They will also provide information on how to meet other young people across Scotland.

  • London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard

Switchboard provides an information, support and referral service throughout the UK. You can find out about your local LGBT youth group here.

  • Queery

A national search engine for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities, Queery provides information on local LGBT youth groups and 'coming out'.

Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Organisations

  • Gay Youth UK

This website aims to provide an online community offering advice, information and support to young lesbian, gay and bisexual people in the UK, as well as those questioning their sexuality.

  • Jewish Gay and Lesbian Group

The JGLG is the longest established Jewish gay group in the world. They aim to provide an atmosphere of friendship and support for Jewish gays, lesbians, bisexuals and their partners, and organise social, religious and informative events for their members and their guests.

  • Joint Action Against Homophobic Bullying      (JAAHB)

A national agency tackling homophobic bullying in schools. They are running the Day of Silence Project, to promote young people's involvement in making a stand in their own educational environment against the homophobic bullying.   • LGBT Youth Scotland

LGBT Youth Scotland is working towards the inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people in the life of Scotland. They provide a range of services and opportunities for young people, families and professionals which aim to increase awareness and confidence, as well as reducing isolation and intolerance.

  • NAZ Project

Naz Project London provides sexual health and HIV prevention and support services to South Asian, Middle Eastern, North African, Horn of African and Latin American Communities. They run a programme for young Black and Asian people equipping them with knowledge and skills they need to understand sexual health issues, and also provide training in religious and cultural issues for teachers involved in Sexual Health Education with young Black and Asian people.

  • Queer Youth Network

The UK Alliance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Young People is a national organisation run by and for young LGBT people. As well as organising campaigns and projects, the Alliance produces a magazine, and offers advice and support, and links to local LGBT groups and events.

  • Safra Project

The Safra Project is a resource project working on issues relating to lesbian, bisexual and transgender women who identify as Muslim religiously and/or culturally.

  • Stonewall

Stonewall has been working for equality and justice for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in the UK since 1989. Stonewall works in a number of different areas, including lobbying for legal change, policy development and providing information and advice to organisations and individuals on issues effecting the LGB communities.

  • THT

THT is the leading HIV & AIDS charity in the UK and the largest in Europe. They offer a range of services for people living with HIV/AIDS, and campaign for greater public understanding of sexual health issues. They also offer education and information resources.
