Workshops
Our fun and interactive workshops aim to answer any questions you might have about making the most out of being young and LGB. On the online application form, you'll be able to select which workshops you'd most like to attend at the event (please note we can't always give everyone their first choice).
1.Being Out and Proud
Coming out isn’t a one-off process. LGB people are continuously coming out in different environments, from school to work and with friends, family and strangers. It is an important part of life for LGB people of all ages, so how do you do it in the way that's right for you? This workshop aims to prepare you for being ‘out’ in all different settings, as well as helping you to find your own LGB identity amongst the stereotypes.
2. Get it right
Rights for the LGB community have been a long time coming: but what does it all mean? In this workshop we take a quick look at the rights LGB people have, and how to make sure these are respected. Want to know what a hate crime is, who to speak too when you think your rights are being trampled on, and lots more? Then Get it Right!
3. Decisions, decisions, decisions
Life is full of decisions. When is the right time to start having sex? What does a healthy relationship look like? What behaviour is safe or isn’t safe? These are just a few of the decisions you might be faced with on your journey as an LGB young person exploring your identity and the scene for the first time. This workshop will arm you with the knowledge to make informed decisions that are right for you.
4. Reaching the Top
Entering a new career can be daunting for anyone, but any worries or concerns you may have should not stop you reaching your goals! In this workshop, you will have the chance to meet LGB people who have made a success of their working lives in a range of different industries- they’ll be able to tell you about their own experiences in the workplace and show you how being LGB doesn’t need to stop you achieving any of your dreams and goals.
And that’s not all….There’ll also be an interactive workshop led by acclaimed writer and director Rikki Beadle Blair; a question and answer panel with special speakers and a screening of Stonewall’s ground breaking new film Fit.
