Stonewall's Youth Volunteering Programme

16-25? Passionate about ending homophobia and homophobic bullying? Then this is the place for you!

The Stonewall Youth Volunteering Programme is part of our Education for All campaign to tackle homophobia and homophobic bullying. As a Stonewall Youth Volunteer you'll develop your own local campaigns against homophobic discrimination.

Your campaign can be as small or as big as you like and you can work alone or with other young people. You can choose an issue you feel passionate about - from helping your school develop an anti-homophobic bullying policy, to teaching your peers about LGB history and issues - be as creative as you like!

There are great reasons to volunteer with Stonewall, including:

  • Make a difference in your community

You'll be able to campaign for change that will really make a difference to young people affected by homophobia in your local community.

  • Get an official accreditation

We offer National Open College Network accreditation certificates through Youth Train in skills such as speaking and listening and developing skills - they'll be great for your CV or university/college application

  • Win awards

You can work towards the V awards (which are run by V - England's biggest youth action programme) which recognise your volunteering on the basis of the time you put in and the impact you make on your community. Stonewall are also developing our own awards to recognise your contribution to our campaign to tackle homophobia.

  • Make new friends

At regional and national meetings you'll be able to meet other young people from across the country that, like you, care about making a difference in their communities.

If you want to get really involved you could consier becoming a Youth Leader, working as the bridge between Stonewall and young people in your region. You'll learn skills to help you train and support other volunteers and you'll chair regional meetings. You will also sit on the Stonewall Youth Leaders Network, guiding the development of the programme.
