How many times have you moaned about never seeing photos of LGB people in magazines, papers and publicity – or just the same people over and over again?
Here’s YOUR chance to do something about it.
We are inviting people from across Wales to take photos that represent all aspects of lesbian, gay and bisexual life in Wales.
These images will be part of an online photo bank of diversity images to help the NHS, police, County Councils and other organisations to use diverse images on their posters and other publications.
For several years we have been campaigning for the media to reflect the variety of different people who are LGB in Wales and not just to portray stereotypes as if they represent all LGB people.
We have also been encouraging service providers from health, housing, community safety, education and others as well as workplaces to use inclusive images of LGB people in their publicity, posters and publications to signal their real commitment to LGB inclusion.
Many organisations tell us they would like to include images of same sex couples, but can't find them anywhere. We are now gathering pictures together of all kinds to help organisations find and include them.
Photos will be available free of charge to organisations.
Email: eleanor.hicks@stonewallcymru.org.uk with your photos along with a photo publication consent form (so if we get asked we know you agreed for it to be used). Or bring your pictures on a CD to the Stonewall Cymru stalls at Swansea Pride, Cardiff Wales LGBT Mardi Gras and the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
Make sure they are big enough so they will reproduce well in papers or magazines etc.
At these events our volunteers will also be taking photos at events so be prepared to say cheese.
