Stonewall Cymru welcomes Welsh Government’s warning to Catholic Education Service

The Welsh Education Minister Leighton Andrews has reminded the Catholic Education Service of its obligation to present balanced views to its pupils. The letter follows an investigation after the CES wrote to its schools to invite pupils as young as 12 to sign a petition opposing equal marriage.

Stonewall Cymru Director Andrew White said: ‘While we’re pleased the Welsh Government is crystal clear that schools mustn’t promote partisan political views, it’s shocking that any school would demean gay pupils by promoting divisive campaigns from anti-gay groups.’
