Stonewall Cymru urges lesbians and gays to 'Use your Vote'

Stonewall Cymru is launching a campaign to encourage lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people in Wales to 'Use your Vote' in the forthcoming Welsh Assembly elections.

Bilingual postcards have been designed to encourage lesbian and gay people who might not normally vote to use their vote wisely and question prospective candidates on their commitment to gay equality.

The postcards also feature a five point 'manifesto' for the 2007 Welsh elections, which includes tackling homophobic bulling and hate crime as a matter of priority and public services meeting the needs of LGB people.

Lesbian and gay voters can send these postcards to candidates to find out where they stand on key issues.

Matthew Batten, Stonewall Cymru's Policy and Public Affairs Officer says, "We believe lesbian, gay and bisexual voters should have all the necessary information in order to make an informed choice in the voting booth."

"We are urging lesbian and gay voters in Wales to vote for a candidate who can really make a difference."

Campaign materials are available to download on Stonewall Cymru's Election 2007 webpage, which will also keep LGB people, and supporters, up-to-date with recent campaign developments. For more information visit: www.stonewallcymru.org.uk/welshelections2007
