Liz Morgan has been appointed Director of Stonewall Cymru. Liz will lead on promoting lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) equality across Wales.
Liz has extensive knowledge of equality and diversity and joins Stonewall Cymru from Cardiff Council where she was Diversity Officer for Adult Services and previously HR Lead Advisor for Equalities. Liz has also served for six months as Acting Director of Stonewall Cymru.
Liz Morgan says, "I am delighted to be joining Stonewall Cymru at an exciting time for lesbian and gay equality in Wales. We have won huge successes recently. But while there are lesbian and gay children too frightened to go to school and gay employees being the butt of office jokes we still have much to do. I look forward to the challenges ahead."
Liz is a fluent Welsh speaker and was a finalist in the Welsh Learner of the Year in 2002.
Liz is well known and respected in the LGB Community having been Community Director of the Cardiff-Wales Mardi Gras, chair of the Rainbow Centre Project and the first ever Chair of the Older Lesbian Network (OLN) Wales.
Liz added, “My knowledge and understanding of the LGB community will mean everything Stonewall Cymru does will be to improve the lives of LGB people across Wales.”
