Stonewall Cymru aids development of gay friendly networking in Merthyr Tydfil

The Merthyr LGB Project aims to increase networking between lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people living in the Merthyr area. It is holding a number of local meetings and provides information on social events and access to local services through a Google group and Facebook page.

Jenny Porter, Community Liaison Officer for Stonewall Cymru, says "This is a great opportunity for Merthyr lesbian, gay and bisexual people as they have reported feeling isolated and unsafe in this area. We have already held some meetings at the Merthyr Tydfil Voluntary Action Centre to make contact with people."

On Monday 21st April, we are holding a meeting for representatives of such local service providers as Merthyr Tydfil Council, Communities First, health and community safety agencies and Huw Lewis, Assembly Member Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, to hear about the issues for local Merthyr lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

For more information on joining the google group or attending an event contact Jenny Porter, Stonewall Cymru Community Liaison Officer, on 0845 4569823 or jenny.porter@stonewallcymru.org.uk or visit Facebook group Gay-friendly-in-Merthyr.
