Cardiff University’s Strategic Equality Plan is strongly linked to the organisation’s overarching aims and objectives. A number of objectives and actions make up the plan including specific actions for sexual orientation. These actions were based on the evidence gathered as part of developing the Strategic Equality Plan including engagement activities with LGBT+ staff and student groups, and third sector organisations.

LGB actions include the targeting of specific staff groups for LGB awareness training, improving awareness of bisexuality in the workplace, and increasing the number of staff and students declaring their sexual orientation in monitoring exercises.
Progress is regularly reviewed at the University’s Equality and Diversity Committee, which is chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor. Heads of Schools in turn have responsibility to work towards the plan. This enables the University’s Strategic Equality Plan to feed into all schools and directorates.
