Sexual Orientation: The Equality Act Made SimpleEquality Act

The Equality Act 2010 has created a single public sector Equality Duty, known as 'the duty', covering sexual orientation for the first time. The new duty requires public bodies to consider the needs of their gay service-users in the design and delivery of public services.

This plain-English guide tells employers and service providers exactly what they need to know and do to ensure they are complying with the Act in their workplaces and when providing services.

The Double Glazed Glass Ceiling: Lesbians in the WorkplaceDouble Glazed Glass Ceiling cover

Employers often express concern about the small number of openly-gay women in their workplaces and the even smaller numbers engaged in their work around sexual orientation. Stonewall wanted to investigate this and that’s why we conducted this research, and the results suggest that often gay women think their gender is more of a barrier to success at work than their sexual orientation.
