YouGov polling shows that in the last five years 2.4m people of working age have witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work. A further 800,000 people of working age have witnessed physical homophobic bullying at work. Further polling shows that over a quarter of lesbian, gay and bisexual people are not at all open to colleagues about their sexual orientation.
In Wales, six per cent of people (more than 114,000 people of working age) have witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work. One in seven (14 per cent) have at some point in their working lives witnessed verbal homophobic bullying at work and three per cent have at some point in their working lives witnessed physical homophobic bullying.
To accompany our work with over 600 organisations in Britain, Stonewall has launched a national poster campaign to raise awareness of endemic levels of homophobia in workplaces.
Featuring two people at work, the campaign states clearly that: ‘One is gay. If that bothers people, our work continues’.
The posters will appear on nearly 650 buses in London, Cardiff and Edinburgh as well as on 4,000 adverts on the London Underground. The campaign features workers from across various careers and professions – including construction workers, footballers, priests, police officers and firefighters.
What you can do
We’ve got one simple ask of you: download one of our posters from below, tailor it with your logo and a message saying ‘Proud to support’ or something similar. Get them printed and display them proudly all year round in your office or workspace to help the campaign.
It’s that simple to start visibly showing that you support efforts to tackle homophobia in workplaces.
You can also contact your Stonewall Client Account Manager or email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more information about the campaign and how you can further support this work.
Place your organisation’s logo in the bottom right or left of the artwork with the text ‘proudly supported by’. Once you have added your organisation's logo please send a copy of the artwork to your client account manager.
The below are A4 portrait adverts that include a 3 mm bleed as hi-res (300dpi) RGB JPGs.
