Stonewall Leadership Conference

After almost 10 years of delivering the Stonewall Leadership Programme to over 350 people, Stonewall invite alumni from across the years to join us for the Stonewall Leadership Conference 2014

Focusing on individual influence on systemic change, delegates will have the opportunity to hear best practice and learn what Stonewall Leaders can practically do to be change agents within their workplaces and beyond.
  

  • Aim

To support the continuing personal and professional development of LGB leaders and too consolidate, develop and expand networks of LGB leaders.

  • Outcomes

• Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from a senior LGB leader and a senior LGB ally
• Learn about Stonewall’s growing suite of leadership work
• Understand ways you can progress your own career and how you can support others to develop knowledge, skills and understanding in a range of issues specific to LGB leaders
• Build on your existing networks of LGB leaders

10:10-11:30: Keynote address including panel discussion and Q&A
11:30-11:45: Refreshments 
11:45-12:45: Content-based workshops delivered in partnership with high-performing/ best practice organisations

Breakout session 1 - Supporting your LGB allies to build inclusive workplaces –
Stonewall and Gentoo

  • Learn how to engage LGB allies in your organisation
  • Explore how to support your LGB allies to be visible and to support their LGB colleagues
  • Start planning how you can develop an LGB allies programme in your organisation   

Breakout session 2 - Celebrating LGB role models in your workplace – Stonewall and Leicestershire County Council

  • Learn how to engage diverse LGB role models in your organisation
  • Explore how to support LGB colleagues to step up as visible role models in your organisation
  • Start planning how you can celebrate LGB role models in your organisation

Breakout session 3 - How coaching and mentoring can support your LGB staff and their allies – Caroline Ellis and Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service

  • Understand the different ways coaching and mentoring can support your LGB staff and their allies
  • Explore models, tools and techniques for effective coaching and mentoring
  • Start planning how you can develop coaching and/or mentoring programmes in your organisation Panel discussion and Q&A

14:15-15:15: Practice based workshops delivered by Stonewall staff

Session 1 - Delivering a role model taster session to your colleagues

  • Learn how to deliver a one-hour role model session to your colleagues to effectively promote the value of visible role models
  • Discuss and practice delivering elements of a one-hour role model session aimed at your colleagues
  • Start planning how you can deliver a one-hour role model taster session to your colleagues

Session 2 - Going into schools as an LGB role model

  • Learn how to carry out an effective school visit as an LGB role model
  • Discuss and practice answering the questions pupils and students frequently ask
  • Sign up for going into schools as an LGB role model

Session 3 - Peer coaching focused on your next steps as an LGB role model 

  • Develop peer coaching skills
  • Work in peer coaching pairs or trios to identify how you intend to develop as an LGB leader
  • Plan for how you will sustain peer coaching relationships
