LGBT History Month events

Here are some events happening throughout February - many of which you can attend! Email Rachel at if you have an event you'd like us to feature on this page.

Many Voices Singing for Fun  

London's LGBTQ non-performing singing group.

When? 8 February 2014 - 7:15pm - 8:50pm
Where? Westminster Quaker Meeting House, 8 Hop Gardens, London, WC2N 4EA

Many Voices is a monthly "sing for fun" group for LGBTQ people and their friends. Lesbian, gay, bi, trans, intersex, queer and questioning people, and straight allies, are welcome. They teach all the songs by ear, so there’s no need to be able to read music. If you like to sing in the car or the shower, or if haven’t sung since school but would like to try, you are assured of a warm and friendly welcome. No auditions!

West Midlands Police LGBT Network Events


When? 12 February 2014 12:00 noon onwards
Where? University of Birmingham stall

Come and say hi to the network on the stall. Afterwards feel free to stay for the LGBTQ Association’s regular Wednesday coffee afternoon taking place at the same time in the Beorma Bar. (The Underground, Guild of Students)

Where? Wolverhampton Art Gallery

‘LGBT Voices in History’ - This session takes a fascinating look at LGBT History using archived material, with guest speakers and an open session with police officers from West Midlands Police, to explore and debate the massive changes in attitudes both within the police service and in wider society towards LGBT people.

‘Keeping Secure’ - Specific safety awareness for the LGBT community, provided by West Midlands Police LGBT Network officers and staff.

Morley College is flying the flag for LGBT History Month!

Morley College, London will celebrate LGBT History Month with a variety of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender themed courses and events (all of which are completely FREE!) throughout February 2014.

Where? Morley College, 61 Weestminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7HT

Highlights of the month include Queering the Picture with award-winning painter Sadie Lee discussing LGBT themed work and her own practice. Queering the Classic: Pomp and Portraiture, in collaboration with local barbers and hairdressers, will explore themes of gender and identity. Attendees will be given the opportunity to receive a free haircut and try vintage clothing as a way to explore their own identity.

Cherry Potts – Author


LGBT History Month is certainly keeping Cherry Potts, author of Mosiac of Air busy. She’ll be involved in readings in library’s across London including Lewisham, North Kensington, Waltham Forest and Crofton Park, as well as London community spaces throughout February 2014. Most of the events are FREE and full listings can be found on her blog here

We’re delighted that in some of the venues she’ll be collecting in aid of Stonewall!
