We need your help to send this vital new resource to primary schools across the country. Just £5 allows us to send a DVD to one primary school reaching hundreds of children parents and teachers. Can you help?
Following the huge success of our feature film FIT, which deals with the serious issue of homophobic bullying in secondary schools, we want to produce a film aimed at primary school pupils.
Building on the success of our acclaimed Different Families campaign, this one hour film will help to show young people the importance of being yourself and that difference is something to be celebrated.
It will feature four different characters and examine themes like friendship, difference, stereotypes, bullying and, of course, different families - including same sex parents.
Research conducted for Stonewall by YouGov and the University of Cambridge found that homophobic bullying is one of the most common forms of bullying in primary schools. It also found that whilst the children of same-sex parents love their families, they're often worried about telling their classmates about them for fear of homophobic bullying.
FREE will give teachers - who often lack the confidence to tackle this bullying - a fun and engaging way to tackle these issues in the classroom as well as bringing to life the characters and themes that schools have already been exploring through our Different Families resources.
It will build on the success of FIT, our widely celebrated feature film for secondary schools that was praised by The Times as “a kind of gritty take on shiny E4 drama Glee". FIT was distributed to every secondary school in the country and has made a very real difference in tackling homophobic bullying throughout Britain's schools.
